Attorney General Coakley moves forward with anti-cyber crime efforts
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley appointed the director for the state Cybercrime Division’s planned computer forensics lab.
In a statement released Tuesday, Coakley’s office said David Papargiris, who has worked for the Norwood Police Department since 1988, will start the position on Feb. 25. Papargiris has previously worked as a computer forensic investigator and has also instructed police officers on collecting digital evidence.
“Under his leadership, we look forward to establishing a top-notch facility where we can not only process complex evidence, but also provide much-needed training to other law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth,” Coakley said, in a statement.
The Attorney General’s office received a $142,000 Byrne Grant to fund the lab from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, which is a part of the U.S Department of Justice.
